Setup Guide for AVM FRITZ!Box 7490 / 7530 / 7530 AX

This configuration guide provides details of how to set up a AVM FRITZ!Box 7490 / 7530 / 7530 AX router for use with the Voipfone telephone network.

  • Visit the IP address of your router in a web browser - the default IP is 192.168.178.1
  • Navigate to Telephony → Telephone Numbers
  • Click: New Telephone Number

Ensure Use internet telephone number is checked, and set the settings as below:

Account Information

Telephony provider:
SIP trunking with various telephone numbers
Telephone number for registration:
Account number followed by * and your extension
So if your account number is 30999999 and your extension number is 200 you would enter: 30999999*200
Internal telephone number in the FRITZ!Box
Enter your account number or extension
Password:
Enter your SIP password, you can find this on your Control Panel Phone Settings or PBX Extensions pages.

Registrar:
Enter sip.voipfone.net in this field.

Additional Settings for Telephone number

Contact internet telephony provider via
Select the option: Only via IPv4
Transport protocol
Set this field to: UDP
Provider does not support REGISTER-fetch
Ensure this field is checked.

So if your account number is 30999999 and your extension number is 200 your configuration would look like the below image:

Older firmware

For older hardware, there are some extra configurations you must make. You will find these below.

AVM FRITZ!Box 7490

Under additional settings at the bottom of the page, ensure the following is checked:

Always register via internet connection

AVM FRITZ!Box 7530 / 7530 AX

Ensure your firmware version is equal to or higher than: Fritz!OS 7.25

Firmware

You can download firmware updates at AVM's website: AVM FRITZ!Box 7530 AX or AVM FRITZ!Box 7530 depending on your hardware.

Port forwarding

The port forwarding options can be found on the TelephonyTelephone numbers page.

Under the Line settings tab, go to Telephony connectionChange the settings (a blue link near the bottom of the page).

Select the option to Keep port sharing of the internet router enabled for telephony then update the keep port forwarding enabled setting to 30 seconds.

Register pre-fetch

Navigate to TelephonyTelephone NumbersEdit and ensure Provider does not support REGISTER-fetch is checked and hit ok to save the changes.
