Miscellaneous features of the Voipfone PBX

The Voipfone PBX comes with a long list of free services and features.

Up to 799 extensions

You can have up to 799 phone extensions (200 to 998) on one account.

Transfer calls between extensions - wherever they are.

Extensions can be in the same office, a remote office, a home office or even another country - wherever they are calls between them are free of charge.

Unlimited lines

We do not restrict the number of simultaneous calls you can make on our PBX; you are limited only by your own network and bandwidth.

External direct dial in (DDI)

You can have as many phone numbers as you like all routed to the same extension, or a different number for each extension so people can call in directly without having to go through a receptionist or switchboard. We offer volume discounts if you have more than 10 phone numbers on your account. Please contact us if you require a contiguous block of numbers adding to your account.

Busy lamps

If you have phones that support it, you can see which other extensions are busy or ringing.

Call Pickup

Answer any extension that is ringing directly from your own telephone by simply dialing ** followed by the extension's number. For example: **200. You will need to ensure you have our call pickup service configured for this to work.

Caller ID

Sometimes called CLI (Calling Line Identity), caller ID identifies your phone to the network, and when enabled, is passed on to the called party who can then see who is calling them. If you have multiple phone numbers on your Voipfone account, you can choose which one is displayed when you make a call.

Line and number presentation

This enables you to see which of your phone numbers is being called, instead of the number of the person calling you. For example, if you run more than one business but only have one telephone, you will be able to answer the phone with the correct business name.

1471 last number that called

When you call 1471 we read back to you the number of the last caller, whether you answered it or not. So if you miss a call you can call them back straightaway. Note this can only work if the caller has not withheld their number.

Music on hold

When you put a caller on hold, they will hear music until you're ready to pick the call up again. We provide a free music on hold service using music that we own the rights to (no licence required). We also offer a custom music on hold service which allows you to upload your own sound files and play the music most appropriate to your business.

Call records

Your inbound, outbound and missed call history is available in real time from your Control Panel.

Web calls

If you have access to the internet, you can use your Control Panel to make a call from any telephone anywhere and have it charged to your Voipfone account, not the account of the phone owner.

PSTN failover diverts

We offer a special divert called PSTN failover, which sends calls to an alternate number if your phone stops registering with our network for any reason. So if your internet goes down or your power fails you don't need to lose incoming calls. You can have a separate failover for each extension, so should the worst happen, you have a simple and automatic way of coping.
