Why do I need a second number for WhatsApp Business?

WhatsApp doesn't let you use the same number for both your personal and business accounts. That means, traditionally, you'd need another phone or an extra SIM card (and possibly another monthly contract!).

But with Voipfone, you can skip all that and use one of our numbers instead — way cheaper than paying for another mobile plan. Use your mobile number for regular WhatsApp, and your Voipfone number for WhatsApp Business. That way, you can run both apps on the same phone while keeping your business and personal messages separate.

How do I get my verification code?

Voipfone's UK numbers are not mobile numbers. When you verify your WhatsApp business account, do not select "Text (SMS)" as the contact method. Choose "email", "phone call" or "domain verification" instead.

If you choose "phone call", you will need to make sure you can receive calls to your Voipfone number. If you are an existing Voipfone customer and familiar with VoIP, just check the Inbound Numbers page in your Control Panel to make sure your new Voipfone number is routed correctly, and make a test call to be sure.

How do I stop WhatsApp blocking my number?

If your WhatsApp Business number gets blocked, it's likely because of how it was being used. Here are a few tips to keep your number in good standing:

• No spam! Don't send large amounts of unsolicited marketing messages.
• Balance your messages. Try not to send way more messages than you receive.
• No cross-use with the API. You can't use the same number for the WhatsApp Messenger app and the WhatsApp API/Enterprise solutions at the same time.
• Follow WhatsApp's rules. Read and stick to the WhatsApp Business Commerce Policy.

Can I make calls or send SMS with my Voipfone WhatsApp Business number?

Your number can be used for making and receiving calls just like any other Voipfone number. If you want to make outgoing calls, you will need to add some call credit to your account, or if you are only calling UK landlines and mobiles, we have bundles of call minutes available. Alternatively, you could sign up for one of our business plans which include the cost of your Voipfone number and come with a monthly allowance of call minutes.

You cannot send SMS directly using your Voipfone number, but all Voipfone business accounts come with the ability to send SMS from your Control Panel.
