The landscape of business communication in the UK is undergoing a major shift. PSTN and ISDN are outdated, and are rapidly being replaced by IP-based telephony solutions. Businesses increasingly demand scalable, internet-based solutions to match contemporary work practices such as hybrid and remote working.
Businesses that switch to VoIP gain a competitive edge with reduced costs, greater efficiency and an enhanced customer experience. Failure to act could lead to disruptions, as old landline phones become unusable.
Voipfone is the natural successor to the traditional phone companies. Our cloud-based VoIP PBX services give business the features and functionality of telephone systems that were previously only affordable by large corporations.
Whether you are a sole trader or run several offices in several locations, or even your home. It's the most fully featured and best value UK VoIP service you'll find.

VoIP can be confusing at times and those new to it often have a few questions.
The good news is you're not alone and many before you have had similar queries, here you will find answers to the most common questions we get when it comes to switching.
Click any of the headings to find out the answer.
Yes you can. We can transfer (port) almost any landline number onto our service, including BT, Sky, TalkTalk and Virgin Media, as well as numbers from other VoIP providers.
If you have your broadband supplied over your phone line (ADSL or Fibre-to-the-Cabinet), this might be cancelled if you move your number. You should upgrade to full-fibre broadband before asking us to move your number.
If full-fibre broadband is unavailable in your area, you may still be able to have broadband over a copper line but without phone service, which is known as SoGEA (Single Order Generic Ethernet Access). Call us on 0345 868 5555, and we will guide you through the options available to you.
We can still recover your old numbers if your service was cancelled less than 31 days ago. This is known as your "Right to Port".
We don't want to lock you into a contract - all our services are provided on a monthly rolling agreement, and you are free to cancel at any time.
VoIP is a completely different technology to that used with traditional telphones. It is possible to keep using a traditional telephone by connecting it via a VoIP adapter, but for office use and to make the most of the features provided by VoIP, take a look at our range of dedicated IP phones.
Absolutely! We sell a full range of broadband solutions, and just like all our other services it's a monthly rolling agreement - no long-term contracts and no mid-term price hikes.
Our business plans start from as little as £5.00 per user per month, or take complete control over your plan with Voipfone Flex.
With all Voipfone plans, you're not tied down to a contract so you can easily change plan every month, directly from your Online Control Panel.
VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol. It is a technology that allows phone calls to be sent digitally over the internet rather than via traditional copper telephone lines.
We've written a guide that explains in detail how it all works.
BT has announced that it is switching off all of its old telephone network by the end of January 2027. Everyone will have to move their landline phone service to VoIP, or as BT calls it, Digital Voice, with phone calls sent over broadband connections instead.
This changeover has been poorly communicated and badly handled. Some people have lost their landline and their phone number entirely, and many broadband companies don't offer a VoIP phone service at all.
Fortunately you can use Voipfone no matter who provides your broadband, and you can keep your old phone number too. Get ahead of the Big Switch Off by switching to us today!
One side-effect of the old copper phone network was that the lines were powered from the telephone exchange, and so a traditional phone would still work even during a power cut (with the exception of DECT phones that still need mains power for the base station). This is not the case with broadband and VoIP, but there are still some steps you can take.
Our recommended solution is to set up our call forwarding service, is which included with all of our plans. You specify a number (usually a mobile) for 'PSTN Failover', to which your calls will be sent if your VoIP telephone is unreachable for any reason, such as during a power cut, or loss of internet service.
Alternatively, you can use a battery backup or UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply) to power your broadband router and VoIP telephones if the power goes out.
Call us, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm on 0345 868 5555. If you need to talk to us about your account, please have your account number (it's the 8 digit number starting with 3) and your memorable word handy.

SIP trunks are totally imaginary products dreamt up by the telecommunication industry as a way of charging you and providing nothing - they are simply the way you connect your telephones to a VoIP provider using your broadband connection so that you can make calls.
Because you have already paid for this connection with your broadband fee there is no reason at all why you should pay again for it. So, with Voipfone, you don't.
The reason others charge for this 'service' is because in the old days, the number of simultaneous calls that you could make depended on the number of physical telephone lines you had - and telephone lines are expensive. If you needed multiple lines you had to buy expensive line rental product like ISDN 2 and ISDN 30.
Almost all other VoIP companies will try to emulate that pricing structure, even though there is no longer any need for multiple physical copper lines into your premises.
These days, if you need more calls you just buy more bandwidth and we at Voipfone believe that it is wrong to charge for a non-existent service just because it was always done that way.
With Voipfone the number of simultaneous calls (i.e. old fashioned 'lines') you can send us is limited only by your bandwidth to us. Send us as many as you like - the more the better.
